Unlike last year, when UNC alone landed 4 in the first round, and the ACC landed 7, the ACC only landed 3 in the first round of the NBA draft. Congrats to Shelden Williams (#5 overall), JJ Redick (#11) and Cedric Simmons (#15).

Compare the ACC’s success in the NBA draft compared to the NFL draft. In the 1st round of the 2006 NFL draft, the ACC placed 12 players. Note though there are 30 1st round spots in the NBA compared to 32 for the NFL.

Put another way, the ACC took 37.5% of the first round spots in the NFL draft and 10% of the NBA first round spots.
To be fair, the NBA draft has more foreign draftees than the NFL.
