The Rice University baseball team
lost again Thursday to the Beavers of Oregon State. Rice did set one record though; with 23 consecutive innings with no runs, they broke a record from the 1950’s of the longest a team has gone in the College World Series without scoring.
The last 18 of 23 innings did Rice in as they lost two to Oregon State University. Rice was ranked #2 coming in.
With their win, Oregon State will face the North Carolina Tar Heels in a best of three matchup beginning Saturday on ESPN.

General Manager of the NY Knicks will be taking over for Larry Brown as head coach.
“Larry has had a long and storied career. We hired him last summer with the expectation that he would be with the Knicks for a long time. Sometimes decisions work and sometimes they don’t. After careful consideration, despite the best intentions from everyone involved, this current structure did not work for us last season and I did not think it was going to improve next season.”– MSG Chairman James L. Dolan

The Rice University Owls baseball team have now failed to score in the last 13+ innings of their CWS appearance and it cost them in a 5-0 loss to the OSU beavers.
Because Rice had been unbeaten in the CWS until now they will meet OSU one more time (earlier OSU had lost to Miami, while Rice did not). Whoever wins will play the Tar Heels for the CWS on Saturday.
Rice losing today is great for the Tar Heels; had Rice won, the Rice/OSU serious would be over and Rice would not play until Saturday with the Heels. However, both Rice and OSU now have to play an extra game to play on Thursday while UNC gets more time to prepare and rest.

It’s honestly not been the best year for the Tar Heels - thus far no team NCAA championships.
Women’s basketball was great, but fell short in the Final Four. But just as you thought the college sports season was over, just as incoming freshman come to UNC for orientation, UNC Baseball is now inching closer to a national title. Today they beat Cal State Fullerton and are now in the College World Series (CWS) game. Should they win the best of three, they will be the NCAA champions. The Heels will play either Rice or Oregon State beginning on Saturday.

Dear Charlotte,
Despite your want to become North Carolina’s sport’s city, the RTP area takes another honor from you. First we beat you (too many times too count) winning NCAA titles. Now we’ve won NC’s first and only professional sports title. Your Panthers have certainly given everything they’ve got. And we’re not sure if Charlotte really has an NBA team; only time we hear about them is if a former Tar Heel has a good night. How about stick with things you do well, like gridlock.
Love always your friends,
Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill
